It’s not fun, but the best way to for people to identify the pests that have infiltrated their house is to inspect the pests’ droppings. It’s a method that works especially well when figuring out if there are termites nearby.
Termite droppings, also known as termite frass, are usually found in areas of the home that are not heavily trafficked and, because of their brownish color which blends in with dirt, are easier to spot indoors than out.
The droppings will look like a long trail or circular grouping of sand, dirt and sawdust. The piles will very in size and come in different shades of brown.
Keep in mind that just because you identify the droppings as those of a termite, you’re not in the clear. The termite’s droppings won’t harm you or your house, but the fact you have termites somewhere around certainly can and likely will, if you don’t take action. In most cases, droppings will appear before any other sign of a termite’s presence will.
